The Lake Tahoe Castle has been one of the most often rented vacation homes in South Lake Tahoe since it was built in 2000. 1000's (yes 1000's) of guests from around the world have enjoyed the unique and wondrous amenities at this extremely luxurious home here that compliment the majestic views and mountain air in the Lake Tahoe area. Designed as a vacation retreat, the 3500 square foot home features a fully equipped gourmet kitchen which opens into a magnificent logged great room with large rock fireplace. The adjoining balcony with barbeque has a lovely view for dining outside in seasonable weather. The master suit has a private bathroom with jacuzzi tub. Two other bedrooms plus a large loft sleeping area with two more beds and pullout couch provide sleeping for up to twelve. The loft also features a pool table and foosball table. Oh and just a few other things…a large indoor heated pool complete with waterfall and fireplace. Colored lighting under the waterfall and fiber optic lighting that surrounds the pool set a relaxing mood in the evenings. A separate steam room, separate sauna room and log bar are also in the pool area. The private outdoor spa on the rear deck nestled in the pine trees has a great view of the stars. Located about 5 miles from the Lake and 5 from Heavenly Ski resort and the casinos, but far enough away on a quite cul-de-sac with empty wooded lots on either side. The beautiful forested surroundings and unsurpassed list of amenities makes this home the ultimate retreat that truly defines “get-away”!

The home decor includes old photos of the Tahoe area and a Native American theme of carved wooden statues, albeit the lone cowboy who guards the pool. This is to honor of the original peoples of the area and also for the names of ours and other streets in the area that have tribal names and words. Located on Hekpa Drive and surrounded by streets bearing other Native American names one wonders What does Hekpa mean? We searched all the local historical sources, countless books, Internet searches, and even contacted the National Archives. The name remains a mystery. Likely it would have derived from a word meaning “fir” or a name a band of Native Americans. Certainly it is open to interpretation, so feel free to give Hekpa your own special meaning. Enjoy our home.

Sleeping arangements are as follows: The house is larger than it appears in the main photo. You don't see that it is a large "L" shape and has an additional wing. The home has three bedrooms plus a large loft area which is considered a bedroom by the rules set forth from the vacation permit, and two bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king, the other two have queens, and the loft has two twins plus a pullout couch. I also have a floor mattress that folds out to a full size and can be easily placed anywhere. The living room has a couch and love seat also. What determines how many a vacation home sleeps, as per county permit, is 2 for each bedroom plus four, so my total is 12.
